pinqponq products are designed by our team in Cologne, crafted in Vietnam and transported to Germany, delivered to selected partners, and then sold. We follow the entire process and are in direct contact with every producer. That way we can guarantee the quality of our products and have their chemical purity confirmed by independent agencies.

Working environment

Our factories are based in Vietnam. We have purposely chosen Vietnam and our producers there because their working conditions not only meet, but are better than what is legally required. They have controlled working hours, regular planned breaks and a canteen. All are part of their working day. During the product development and quality assurance phase, our designers, product managers, and buyers spend several weeks during the year on-site, working with our partners in the sewing rooms and gaining experience of a typical working day. We therefore gained a personal insight into the working conditions at the workshops. To play it safe, we also ensure that our tailors are audited by external partners regarding social standards.

Recycling is a key pillar of our sustainability strategy and serves to minimize our impact on the environment when manufacturing our products. We use fabrics with a recycled PET bottle content of 100%. Polyester is the main material of our bags. It is particularly suitable for our backpacks because it is light, tough, and easy to work with. The material can be created using crude oil, however the same quality can be achieved by recycling PET plastic bottles. And we decided for the eco-friendly way for the outer fabric of our bags.

1. PET bottles are collected & sorted

The empty PET plastic bottles are collected and taken to a recycling plant. Once there, the clear bottles are selected to undergo recycling.

2. The bottles are crushed & washed

The bottles are crushed into PET flakes. These are then washed in a water bath.

3. Pellets are made

The PET flakes are melted down and mixed thoroughly. The hot mass is then formed into thick fibers that are cut into 3 mm pellets.

4. The thread is spun

The pellets are melted again, drawn into long fibers and spun into thread. The finished thread is wound onto spools and transported to the weaving mill.

5. The fabric is woven & printed

Weaving The thread is placed in sophisticated weaving machines and woven into white lengths of fabric.

Printing Patterns are then printed onto the lengths of fabric and both sides are coated to make the fabric water-repellent.

6. The product made

Cutting The fabric is then cut into sewing patterns. These patterns are laid out so that the fabric is used efficiently. No usable fabric scraps are used for padding.

Sewing The pieces of fabric cut from the patterns, are then used to sew our wonderful product.

We are bluesign® system partners. Therefore we show our support for the system and get important information from other partners. The system eliminates environmentally-damaging substances from the production process and controls its compliance to have an environmentally-friendly and secure production. Also, we are members of Fair Wear Foundation (FWF). The aim of bluesign® is to keep toxic chemicals completely out of the supply chain and FWF works with us to verify and improve workplace conditions in our factories. In this way we aim to meet the high requirements of ecological and social responsibility. You can get further information about FWF on the website of our umbrella brand FOND OF.
